**NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN**

On May 9th there was a 7 hour 30 minute transit of the planet Mercury across the disc of the Sun. The transit was visible from the UK for the entire duration. (See diagram below)

WMA members set up their telescopes, with appropriate solar filters, on the central car park in Glastonbury, behind St. John's Church. There was a good turn-out of members of the public. hile the weather weather was cloudy for much of the transit, we were able to catch brief glimpses of the event between the clouds. Josh Dury was able to capture a few images, one of which is shown above.
