'Sunset partial Solar Eclipse then the Perseid Meteor Shower'
Wednesday 12th August 2026 18:00-late
Outreach: Everybody welcome
Weather permitting, we will set up safely filtered telescopes to observe the partial eclipse of the Sun as it sets in the west.
This should be a dramatic event - first contact of the Moon occurs around 18:10 with maximum 94% coverage of the Sun by 19:10.
The Sun will set around 20:30 after which the slowly darkening sky will allow the emergence of shooting stars from
the Perseid Meteor Shower.
