Book review by Karen Sutlieff: 'The Last Stargazers' Emily Levesque (Oneworld Publications)14/7/2024 I’ve recently finished this book and highly recommend it. For anyone with an interest in astronomy this book is a great read. It relates to the new, better technology of automated telescopes put in place in recent years, which has lessened the need for human-driven observing. The author does a great job of explaining the methods used way back, how Astronomers have had to evolve as the technology improves, where it has led to currently and what the future may and should hold. It's complex enough for those with a higher level of understanding but for me it is an enjoyable read. It has given me more of an insight into the career of my own son Dr Ben Sutlieff and it made me laugh too as the author Emily Levesque certainly has a sense of humour! Young persons who enjoy maths and science - I recommend reading it as it may inspire you to seek a career in the amazing and very varied world of Astronomy.
